Tough one. I like the .223 wylde chamber better than the 5.56 nato chamber and I prefer the 1/8 twist over the 1/7. So for me it's the bottom one hands down.

Do you need the BCG? You can get some nicer hardware for cheaper if you don't need the BCG

No F/a on these but not really a big deal depending on what you are building the gun for.
Why do you like the .223 wylde chamber better?

What's the purpose for this build? Knowing that will help us recommend parts.
White tail deer hunting and just having fun, probably with a .22 adapter. But overall, it is for whatever I want to use it for. I already own about ten rifles. So this is to try out the usefulness of an AR frame compared to those. I am former Army Infantry (11A) and used to teach advance rifle marksmanship. I was also an OIC for rifle ranges. So the AR frame and I are good friends, but not on the civilian side until now.

Okay. I've got to get this thing sighted in. Just pulled the trigger on 200 rounds of 5.56 NATO ammo. It was $116.77 with sale tax and my local celebrity discount. Shipping was free. That's about $0.58 per round.

Dang man! Doesn't seem like it was that long ago when we could get 1000rds of the stuff for under $300. Looks like those days are gone forever
You are probably right. But let's hope it gets better. At 1,000 rounds for $300, you were paying about $330 with sales tax. That about $0.33 a bullet. I just paid $0.58 per bullet. So the price is not currently doubled. Right now, both online retailers and local shops are still regularly running out of popular ammo. Once the supply fully catches back up, we may see prices stabilize close to where they were before we got hit by the "beer bug", plus whatever the inflation rate is.

PS: If anyone knows where I can get some .223 Nosler Partition in 60 grain or bigger, please let me know.

The best way is to reload, when you can, as long as you can get all the materials needed for that and the equipment. I am moving to MO. soon and I have shared here that my cousin I am moving with, has a retired military son there that has 15 acres and a shooting range on his property and he reloads. Mostly 9mm and .380. But if he does other rounds, I will be tempted to likely buy another lead thrower.

My in-laws reload. Over 40 years ago, when I was 15 years old and first showed up at my girlfriend's (now wife's) parent's house, her dad was sitting at the dinner table reloading shotgun shells. My family were loggers. Our shotguns were behind the seats in our log trucks, and the boxes of shells (that we almost never shot) were buried among the dirt and leaking oil cans in the floor board behind the seat. I didn't know regular folks actually reloaded them. :D

Back near the small town where we grew up, I've got 29 acres of partially forested land that butts up against lumber mill forest land. And my in-laws have several hundred acres just down the road. They also have a sandpit that makes an excellent shooting range. So we've got a great place to sight in our guns and some decent places to hunt white tail deer and wild hogs as well. For hunting ammo, we just don't use enough of it to justify reloading. But if we start sport shooting a lot, I might consider reloading my own. 🤔

This is a channel I watch, I think some of you may find interesting ... https://www.youtube.com/c/taofledermaus ... They shoot a lot of shotgun shells from all over the place. I have a Russian full choke long barrel break action shotgun.. lots of fun mostly shot bird game with it, picked this gun up back in the day for a 24 case of beer.
i just recently stumbled across that channel and went down a rabbit hole watching their videos :ROFLMAO:

very nice. I was just thinking the other day that I haven't shot at all in a long time(ammo shortage and costs make that an easy decision :ROFLMAO:) However come spring I might make some sort of effort.

My problem is I like everything. Don’t really collect a specific thing. I will share some of my favorites though.

Sigs…Tacops 10mm, P320 RXP Xcompact.

HKs…the USP Compact is a police trade I picked up from Gander at a great price because they had it labeled as an HK45 and not a USP.

Glocks of course…20, 19C, & 42. Had a few others but sold them for other junk.

Lastly, my “being an obnoxious ass at an indoor range” gun.

I got a "new" gun safe. Well, it's new to me. $500 on Facebook. Belonged to a retired high school football coach. My old-style wood and glass display gun cabinet just isn't secure enough for today's world. This bolts to the slab and can sit in the same place as the gun cabinet. Between this, our Arkansas shoot-first-ask-questions-later-policing, and my two 60+ bulldogs, we should be good to go for now.

That’s a great deal for that size safe.

Nice!!! Just make sure you bolt it down!

One of these days I need to upgrade my safes. I'm rocking a cannon for my ammo and a rhino for my firearms. I'd like to get the big boy rhino.
This one I got is a Liberty Centurion 18-gun. It's not as good as a Rhino, but specs out fairly well for a "cheap safe". And it's 100% American-made including all components. 14 gauge steel, relocker, Sargent & Green leaf dial mechanism and seven locking bars. Only 30 minutes at 1200 degrees, but that should be enough where it's located. Interior is almost identical to the 24-gun Rhino. List price is $1,099. But you can find them for $999 if you look around. This one is fairly new, so $500 was a great deal.

I'm using this mainly for long guns and ammo. All that fits. But I need something else for all the other hunting-related gear that was in the gun cabinet.

PS: I was going to drop the gun display cabinet off at Habitat for Humanity Re-Store. But since it was my dad's I called my sister to make sure she didn't want it. Turns out, lady-folks are taking theses (which are a dime a dozen) and turning them into homemade quilt display cases. So my sister wants it. Now I've got to drive all the way down towards Texarkana to drop it off. 🙄

Haha! At least you checked with your sister because that probably wouldn't have ended well if you didn't. I have never heard of a quilt display case. Could be because I am not a quilt connoisseur, but I guess that makes sense with the display glass

I'll play along. First picture is our 15 year old daughter rocking a gen3 Glock 17. Second and 3rd pictures are my BCM 11.5" SBR suppressed. 4th is my Gen 5 Glock 19 MOS with Trijicon RMR red dot (EDC). 5th and 6th are some of the long guns and messy safe. The far right on the 5th picture is a Robinson Arms Piston Driven AR (AKAR as some call it).
